Uluru Statement from the Heart

The board and staff of North Fremantle Social Farm accepts the invitation put to the Australian people in the Uluru Statement of the Heart. We support constitutional recognition, a Voice to parliament and a Yes vote at the upcoming referendum. This support seems natural for our little Farm which has always worked to bring people together and to support people in their health and wellbeing. The gap between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people is too big, particularly when it comes to health and wellbeing. When any people are involved in decision and policy making that directly affect their lives the outcomes are better on the ground, and we cannot deny Indigenous people this chance to make their lives better.

We reckon this is not about politics, but simply about a fair go. Despite 60,000 years of unbroken culture and second-to-none land management (as gardeners, respect!), the process of colonisation has been anything but a fair go. It’s time to correct that and move our nation towards truer reconciliation.

We know this may not be the view of everyone in our community and we respect various viewpoints, but we ask you to read the Uluru Statement from the Heart and come to the conversation with an open mind and an open heart.
